Our Story

(So Far)

Willow & Wand started as a question.

What if a small town like Mogadore, Ohio had a place that actually felt like somewhere? A community bookstore cafe where you could sit with a good cup of coffee, get lost in a book, and feel like you belonged there without having to earn your right to be in the room.

That question became a plan. The plan became a Kickstarter. And the Kickstarter became something we never expected: a community of people who believed in this before there was anything to believe in yet.

Where We Are Right Now

In Spring 2026 we launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise the first round of funding to open our doors. Within days people from Mogadore, from across Ohio, and from around the country showed up to back us.

When the campaign closed on June 4, 2026 we had raised $15,524 from our Kickstarter backers. Shortly after, an anonymous donor contributed an additional $10,000 bringing our total raised to $25,524.

On May 29, 2026 we signed the lease on our space at 94 S. Cleveland Avenue in Mogadore's central business district. The space is real. The address is ours. We are currently working with our contractor on renovation plans, curating our opening book inventory, and building out our coffee menu.

We are also an official affiliate of Bookshop.org and a partner of Libro.fm, which means you can shop with us and support the store right now before we even open our doors.

What’s Coming

Willow & Wand is planning to open its doors in Fall 2026 at 94 S. Cleveland Avenue in Mogadore, Ohio.

The Space

The store will occupy approximately 1,600 to 1,800 square feet in Mogadore's Central Business District. The layout is designed with intention: roughly 55% dedicated to the book retail floor and merchandise, 35% to the coffee bar and café seating, and 10% to receiving, storage, and back of house. Every square foot is being built to feel warm, considered, and worth staying in.

The Books

We will carry a curated selection of new titles across fiction, literary fiction, mystery, romance, young adult, children's, nonfiction, and local interest. Our opening inventory of new books is being curated by Susan Savory, our dedicated book buying specialist, and sourced through Ingram Content Group. We will also carry a selection of used books. Every title on our shelves will be there for a reason.

The Coffee Bar

The full espresso and beverage bar will serve:

Espresso drinks including lattes, cappuccinos, mochas, and Americanos. Iced coffee and cold brew. Hot and iced teas and chai lattes. Dirty sodas. Smoothies. Fridge drinks and grab and go beverages. Food and pastries from local bakery partners.

We operate as a Risk Level I food service establishment, meaning everything is thoughtfully sourced and prepared without on-site cooking.

The Programming

Community events are core to what we are, not an afterthought. Planned programming includes a monthly book club, craft nights twice a month, author readings and signings, trivia nights, local musician performances, and seasonal community events. We are building a calendar worth showing up for.

The Membership

The Regulars membership program is already live with six tiers ranging from $59 to $1,000 per year. Members receive perks including Tuesday discounts on drinks and books, a customized enamel camp mug, and early access to events. A free base loyalty program is also active: one point per dollar spent, with 50 points earning a free coffee or tea.

The Hours

TBD; THE HOURS BELOW ARE TENATIVE

Tuesday through Friday: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Saturday: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Closed: Sunday and Monday.

About Jordan, Mikey & Duke

Willow & Wand was built on purpose: and a lot of experience getting here.

Jordan (JL) McVey is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a background in ministry, advertising, creative direction, and clinical mental health. She spent years understanding people; what they need, how they connect, and how the spaces around them shape how they feel. Willow & Wand is where all of that comes together.

After years of holding space for others, Jordan made the decision to prioritize her own mental and physical health. Slowing down wasn't giving up. It was finally choosing herself… and consequently, making room for this.

Michael (Mikey) McVey has been Jordan's best friend since 2013 and her husband since December 2021. They have always worked together in some capacity and this is no different. He is the patient one. The thoughtful one. The one who keeps things from going completely sideways. Willow & Wand is a team effort and Mikey is a big part of why. Between JL’s vision and Mikey’s steadiness, this place has real foundation.

And then there's Duke.

Duke is a husky-lab-pitbull-and-honestly-who-knows-what-else brindle mix who is simultaneously the sweetest and most chaotic creature either of them has ever encountered. He is extremely in your face about love. He has no concept of personal space. He is the best thing that has ever happened to them and he will absolutely be part of the Willow & Wand story in some capacity because a bookstore cafe with a dog named Duke is simply a better bookstore cafe.

Mogadore is home. This is for us, and hopefully for you too.
